BAB
Pre orders ship end of January!**
Have you ever needed a lightweight block battery while on the go? Powering cameras or doing a quick hot swap? Well look no further! The BAB (Build-A-Block) is just for you!
The BAB is a portable block battery solution that runs off regular 12V Gold Mount or V-mount batteries. It provides both 4pin 12V XLR and 3pin 24V XLR outputs while housing ideal diodes and self serviceable fuses. A toggle switch sits up top so you can select your desired XLR output. Also included is color paracord loop of your choice so the BAB can be easily carried or hung on a stand/tripod while in use.
How does it work? This two way switch circuit swaps the batteries from parallel to series just like we have been using on Steadicam rigs for decades.
When in parallel mode on the toggle switch you can hot swap the 4pin XLR with your two batteries, you will still have 12V out but with double the wattage while you have two batteries on the BAB. Also 12V out still works with 1 battery on the BAB.
When the toggle switch is moved over to the 3pin XLR it combines both of your 12V batteries in a series to create 24V.
Designed and 3D printed by Nick Serabyn. Engineered and assembled by SJS Cables.
*You can not hot swap 24V, once you remove one of your batteries the 3pin XLR will drop to 12V(11-16V).
*XLR Connectors are wired to standard Arri Polarity. Pin 1 is GND.
*The BAB is rated at 10A and weighs just over 0.5 lbs(300g).
*Please note that Panavision 3pin block cables are reverse polarity! If you would like to reverse the polarity of the BAB just unscrew the 3pin XLR and unplug the two plastic connectors. Change the red wire to black and black to red.
*With 2 batteries on the BAB, you can use both the 4pin and 3pin XLR at the same time if desired.
